Hand Made Knives
You pick the style. We pick the knife.
Crafted by Bruce in our Clevedon workshop. Carbon steel, reclaimed timber, no two the same.
Made in Clevedon, Auckland.
How It Works
Meet Bruce
Bruce made his first knife as a kid, out of a scrap of mower blade. He never stopped. More than thirty years later, more than 2,000 people have left the workshop with one of his knives.
His specialty is intricate work. Bruce also makes jewellery, and that eye for fine detail shows in everything that comes off his anvil. The Scottish Sgian-dubh in the photo (the traditional dress knife worn with a kilt) carries a hand-carved handle and custom silverwork — detail you can feel under a thumbnail. That's the standard Bruce holds himself to even on a "simple" hunting or kitchen knife. Every knife passes his test before it ships. If he wouldn't keep it, you don't get it.
Bruce also teaches the knife-making courses, where students forge their first blade alongside him at the same anvil. Some of the knives on this page were made during those weekends, as the demonstration piece students watched come off the hammer. Others were made on quieter days, when Bruce just felt like making knives. Same maker, same standards either way.
Custom sheaths and engraving
Three optional add-ons. Each one made to fit the specific knife you receive.
Laser Engraving
Initials, a short name, or a date. Tidy work, done the same day. About 10 characters works best. A nice way to make a gift feel personal from day one.
Custom Kydex Sheath
Moulded plastic, custom-fit to your knife, water-resistant and easy to rinse clean. A utilitarian alternative with the same portability benefits as leather. Built for the pack, the boat, the back of the ute.
Custom Leather Sheath
Hand-stitched to fit your exact knife, in leather that ages with the blade. A premium finish that levels up the whole experience. Wear it on a belt, carry it on the hip, or pack it for trips and adventures - wherever you want your knife with you.
You picked the style. Bruce picks the knife. Every one is forged or finished by hand in his Clevedon workshop, then sharpened and packed before it ships. Same shape, same standards — but no two are the same.
Who it's for
For hunters, campers, and outdoor cooks. Also for the keen gardener, or anyone who just likes to get outside and wants a proper knife on them. The blade is carbon steel, hand-sharpened by Bruce before it ships. The handle is shaped from reclaimed New Zealand timber — every one different, every one warm in the hand. Built to be carried, used, and passed on.

About carbon steel
Carbon steel takes a sharper edge than stainless and responds well to a sharpening stone, so you can keep it sharp at home. It's been the material of choice for handmade blades for generations.
It also picks up a patina with use. Each cut, each clean, each oil — it all becomes part of the knife. After a few months yours will look slightly different to anyone else's, and slightly different again in a year. That's the knife learning your hand.
Hand wash, dry straight away, oil it now and then. Never the dishwasher. Full carbon steel care guide →
